Thirty Jewish melodies for someone who has never read a note. The letter is printed inside every notehead, the melody is written for the right hand alone with its fingering, and the chords appear as keyboard diagrams with the keys marked. Jewish music in this form is hard to find, which is why this book exists.

How the music is written

The letter is inside the note

No counting lines and spaces before you can begin. The notes still stand on a proper staff, so reading comes to you quietly while you play.

Fingering for every song

The numbers over the right hand tell you which finger takes which note, which is how a beginner builds a hand that knows where it is going.

Chords you can see, and can skip

Each chord is drawn as a small keyboard with the keys shaded and named, and the shapes are chosen to sit in one comfortable hand position so the left hand barely moves. If a chord still feels like too much, play one or two of its top notes, or leave it out until you are ready.

One song, one page

Melody, chords and diagrams are laid out together, so nothing has to be turned over in the middle of playing.

An MP3 for every song

Thirty audio files come with the book, one per song. Hear how a melody goes before you learn it, then play along at your own pace until your hands stop needing to think about it.

Who it is for

Complete beginners, children and adults

The first Jewish songs you play, rather than the ones you get to years later.

Piano teachers

Thirty familiar tunes a new student can finish, at a level where finishing is still what matters.

Families and schools

Shabbos songs, holiday songs and Israeli classics in one book, for the child who wants to play what everyone sings.

Questions people ask

I have never read sheet music. Can I use this book?

Yes. Every note has its letter printed inside it, so you read the letter, find the key and play. The book was made for people starting from nothing.

What is written on the page?

A right-hand melody with the letter inside each note, fingering for that hand, chord names above the music, and keyboard diagrams showing which keys make up each chord. Every song fits on its page, so there is no page turning while you play.

What if the chords are still too hard?

Play one or two of the top notes instead of the whole chord, or leave the left hand out until you are ready. The melody stands on its own.

What exactly do I get?

One A4 PDF of 30 pages with 30 arrangements, plus an MP3 of every song, delivered as an instant download after purchase. Each song is titled in English and in Hebrew.

What are the MP3 files for?

To hear how a song is meant to sound before you learn it, and to play along afterwards at whatever pace suits you.

Is it suitable for a child?

It is. Children in their first year at the piano manage these pieces, and so do adults learning to read notes for the first time.

Also in the Made Easy series: Songs of Shlomo Carlebach, sixteen niggunim written the same way.

Instant download.
